Esto ha provocado la pérdida de la rica biodiversidad de la Bahía, un sitio entre dos mares, mar mediterráneo y océano Atlántico, que acogía especies de ambas zonas biogeográficas, siendo un ecosistema marino único, como el que actualmente se conserva en el Parque Natural marítimo-terrestre del Estrecho.

El los últimos años la erosión causada por la modificación de la dinámica del litoral y la perdida de las praderas de Cymodocea nodosa (fanerógama marina), están provocando daños cada vez mayores, que llegan ya a las zonas habitadas e industriales, además de poner en jaque la conservación nuestro patrimonio histórico, como la línea de búnkers realizada por los batallones de prisioneros en la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
Por esto, queremos que mostréis con vuestras firmas, el apoyo necesario para que sean los responsables de estos daños quienes pongan solución al problema: Cepsa, Acerinox, la central térmica de Los Barrios, la Autoridad Portuaria de Algeciras, etc.
A nuestro parecer la solución pasa por realizar un Plan integral de recuperación de la Bahía de Algeciras. Dejemos de tirar dinero y arena al mar con actuaciones puntuales de cada ayuntamiento. El plan tendría que contemplar la eliminación y creación de infraestructuras para recuperar la dinámica del litoral, así como la recuperación de los sebadales (praderas de Cymodocea nodosa), que permitan que nuestra Bahía vuelva a ser un mar limpio, oxigenado, rico en especies pesqueras y sin erosión.

The Bay of Algeciras/Bay of Gibraltar, throughout the last decades has undergone enormous changes due to the regulation of the Guadarranque and Palmones rivers, the installation of heavy industry with its successive discharges, landfills and port infrastructures, etc.
This has led to the loss of the rich biodiversity of the Bay, a site between two seas, the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, which hosted species from both biogeographical zones, being a unique marine ecosystem, such as the one currently conserved in the Maritime-Terrestrial Natural Park of the Strait.
In recent years, the erosion caused by the modification of coastal dynamics and the loss of the underwater meadows of Cymodocea nodosa (marine phanerogam), are causing increasing damage, which already reach inhabited and industrial areas, in addition to putting check the conservation of our historical heritage, like the line of bunkers made by the battalions of prisoners in the Second World War.
For this reason, we want you to show with your signatures the necessary support so that those responsible for these damages are those who solve the problem: Cepsa, Acerinox, the Los Barrios thermal power plant, Port Authorities, etc.
In our opinion, the solution is to carry out a Comprehensive Recovery Plan for the Bay of Gibraltar. Let’s stop throwing money and sand to the sea with specific actions of each municipality. The plan would have to consider the elimination and creation of infrastructures to recover the dynamics of the coast, as well as the recovery of the “sebadales” (underwater meadows of Cymodocea nodosa ), which allow our Bay to become a clean, oxygenated sea rich in fish species and without erosion.
